Thailand is rightfully famous for its orchids—more than 1,300 documented species grow in the country, and it’s the largest exporter of tropical orchids in the world. Sai Nam Phung Orchid stands out as one of the most colorful and unique gardens in the area, complete with its own butterfly garden, koi ponds, and a few antique cars. Most travelers visit the garden as part of a guided tour of the Chiang Mai countryside, often with activities like a Long Neck hill tribe visit, swimming at the Sticky Waterfall, or white-water rafting on the Mae Taeng River.

When to Get There
The orchid farm is open daily from 9am to 5pm. Since the flowers are all situated in indoor greenhouses, it’s an excellent rainy-day activity.
